Overview

The Jazan Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, located in Jazan Economic City in southwestern Saudi Arabia, is a 400,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) full-conversion refinery designed to process heavy and medium crude oils. As a cornerstone of the region's development, the project is a major investment by Saudi Aramco with below details

Characteristics
  • Refining Capacity: The refinery is designed to process 400,000 bpd of heavy and medium crude oil.
  • Products: The facility produces high-value products, including gasoline, ultra-light sulfur diesel (ULSD), benzene, and paraxylene.
  • Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle (IGCC) Plant: The complex includes a massive 3.8 GW IGCC plant, the largest of its kind in the world, which generates power for the refinery and the local grid.
  • Marine Terminal: A dedicated terminal was built to accommodate very large crude carriers (VLCCs) to supply crude oil to the refinery
